Over The Himalayas

We spent the last 2 days on the Pakistani side of Kashmir in the Nubra valley. To get there we crossed an 18,000 foot pass in the Himalayas – the highest motorable road in the world.

While the scenery was similar (Karakorum mountains instead of Himalayas) the people looked much more Middle-eastern than those east of the Himalayan range. The cultural diversity in this area is immense.

Tonight is our last night in the mountains. Tomorrow we head for Delhi for the day before long flights home.

P.S. Yes – there are actually camels and sand dunes in the high desert. The last image is not a joke!
