I can’t believe it is such a short flight from the craziness of Delhi to the peace (and altitude) of the Himalayas. We are surrounded by 20,000 foot peaks – the scenery is spectacular.
We spent the first day aclimatizing and photohraphed monastaries today. Tomorrow we are off to rural Ladakh for a couple of days. More photos when I return.

Jon, Found your blog thru David duChemin’s blog. Really enjoyed looking at your portfolio and your recent posts from India. Had hoped to join you this year but circumstances suggested otherwise. In any event, hope you enjoy the rest of your journey there, and I’ll look forward to seeing more of your photos after you return. Nice panorama – you should take more panoramas, since you travel to all these exotic places ! I am from a place that is close to the Himalayas in India but never got the opportunity to go there
